The Hideout Golf Club expands to Eighth Avenue for second Nashville location

A members-only golf club has opened a second location.
The Hideout Golf Club is opening in just over 5,000 square feet
of space at 1004 Eighth Ave. S., sandwiched between growing
neighborhoods Edgehill, Wedgewood Houston, 12South and the
Gulch.
“It’s a place for golf enthusiasts to play more, play faster,
entertain clients and improve,” Errol Helling, founder of The
Hideout Golf Club, told the Business Journal.
Nashville-based SV Design will serve as the architect and
Tenant Building Group is the general contractor.
Helling, a PGA professional in Nashville since 2010 and owner of
top-rated golf academy Profectus Golf since 2017, opened the
first Hideout Golf Club in Sylvan Supply, at 4101 Charlotte Ave.,
in March 2023.
The Eighth Avenue location will have five bays with state-of-the-
art TrackMan simulators, a full-service bar, fully-equipped gym,
men’s and women’s locker rooms and a coworking space.
The Hideout Golf Club aims to make the sport more accessible
for busy lifestyles. Tee times can be made within the hour they
are played, 18 holes can be played in an hour and daylight
restrictions are lifted —The Hideout Golf Club is open from 6
a.m. to 10 p.m.
“It’s for someone whose life is so busy, but they want golf to be a
part of it and just don’t have five hours on a Saturday to dedicate
to that,” Helling said.
For those looking to take their game to the next level, each swing
taken on the simulator is analyzed and coaching can be provided
by local company Profectus Golf.
Beyond booking tee times, members can participate in both
season-long tournaments and night leagues.
“The Hideout Golf Club really exists because private country
clubs and golf clubs in Nashville have become very full with long
wait lists and most of them have raised their initiation fees to be
very expensive — $100,000 plus in some instances just to join,”
Helling said. “We’re trying to serve a niche of people who would
love to be members of those clubs, but they maybe can’t get it
done, it’s too expensive, or they don’t want to wait that long, or
its inconvenient. We’re trying to offer all of the things that private
golf clubs offer, we just do it with simulators instead of green
grass.”
Country clubs and golf courses are raising their prices across
the country, combatting labor costs and growing expenditure
needs, while mounting demand for membership makes them
more and more exclusive.
Membership dues and fees increased by 39% from 2006 to early
2020 and from December 2021 to September 2023, they
increased by an additional 26%, according to the Producer Price
Index for membership dues and fees at golf courses and country
clubs. At the same time, country clubs having waitlists have
risen from 25% pre-pandemic to 50% today.
The Hideout Golf Club limits memberships to ensure that
members have plenty of options to play. The Sylvan Supply
location has 100 memberships, 95 of which are taken, and the
Eighth Avenue South location will have around 150, the

Looking ahead, Helling sees potential for more locations in the
Music City market.
“We plan to have enough Hideouts in Nashville that no matter
what part of town you live in, you have one convenient to you,”
Helling said.
